Hi! So if you were expecting a recipe tonight, I’m sorry to disappoint. This post is going to be just a bit different. Our family just got back from a week long trip to San Diego, California, and I am so excited to share some pictures with you!
We left for our trip very early on Monday, February 24th. The boys enjoyed seeing all of the planes at the airport and loved flying. They were such great travelers. William literally sat in his seat the entire time and hardly moved. Andrew and I both decided that he definitely won the “best traveler” award. I guess it’s because he’s had so much practice. He has already been on 35 flights, so that’s probably the reason he knows exactly what to do. James on the other hand, was pretty good as well, but doesn’t have quite as many flights under his belt as William does. It was a wonderful mommy moment to see the kindness and helpfulness that came from William towards his little brother. He was incredibly patient and loving towards James the entire trip, and Andrew and I were so proud of him. We really saw a grown-up side to our little man!
I always think it’s amazing how quickly a week can fly by when you’re on vacation! All of the fun things to see and explore, and the much needed break from the usual routine. Andrew did have a few days of meetings out there (that was part of our reason for the trip), but the days he had to work, the boys and I got to play. The other days that he wasn’t stuck in meetings, we were able to have a lot of fun as a family. We were also able to see some of our family who lives in San Diego, and on our day trip to Los Angeles, we even saw some old friends.
The weather in San Diego was of course warmer than freezing cold Michigan, but most of the time was actually rainy and colder (for San Diego). We still managed to have a blast though! So many adventures, and so much fun. We were all pretty sad when it came time to pack everything up and head back to the tundra (Michigan) again. The boys loved getting back on the airplane, and even earned tons of compliments from fellow passengers for being such great travelers! (That definitely made for some happy parents).
Family, friends, fun adventures, great food, and warmer weather. What fantastic memories! Here are a few of the highlights from our week in California:
- Mission Beach
- Birch Aquarium
- San Diego Zoo
- San Diego Air & Space Museum
- USS Midway Museum
- California Science Center (Los Angeles)
- Manhattan Beach (Los Angeles)
- Coronado Beach
- Seaport Village
